The Tin Top Grill offers most anything you could ask for from a small-town restaurant and then some. Just to name a few favorites, breakfast platters, milkshakes, snow cones, burgers, BBQ, chicken, oysters, catfish, salad bar, and a hot bar for quick plate lunches during the week.

Having tried a variety of dishes over the years, I remain impressed with both the portion sizes and quality of the menu items.

I have to give props to the salad bar first. It’s compact and packs a punch with shredded lettuce, thick ranch dressing, boiled eggs, diced tomatoes, small pieces of broccoli, and black olives... this is a list of some of my favorite salad bar selections and Tin Top Grill has them all! I could have stopped after the nice salad. But y'all know I won't! 😛

The Large Chicken Cluck is a Tin Top Grill original. If you're looking for a mouth-watering meal, the Large Chicken Cluck is a must-try! It's five juicy white meat chicken strips, topped with a generous amount of melted mozzarella cheese, and smothered in sautéed onions. Paired with a salad, choice of potato, and garlic toast, it's definitely a savory and satisfying meal!

The fried whole and fillet Catfish were both impressive in size and seasoning. The whole catfish were on the larger size with a generous layer of breading. I also prefer the deep cuts in the meat so the seasoning can be soaked in more fully. I decided to add only a squeeze of lemon and a dab of tartar sauce to enhance their flavors.

The Boo Burger Meal is one of my all-time favorite comfort food combinations! It’s a jumbo double burger and a large order of fries. Add cheese to the burger and a big, thick shake, and you’re in business! The meat was juicy, and the veggies were fresh and flavorful. And although it was a huge burger, it held together well until the last bite.

Oh, and yeah, I dunked a fry in the shake... after it was suggested to me, I HAD to give it a try. The saltiness of the fry and sweetness of the shake is an eye-rolling experience... and I'll just leave it at that!

In our rural communities, there is a diverse range of restaurants – from small independent eateries to larger establishments. These restaurants are often staffed by local residents, including friends, neighbors, and students. Borroum’s Drug Store & Soda Fountain in Corinth was established in 1865 and has been recognized by the House of Representatives as the oldest pharmacy in the state! They are also famous for their signature Slugburger sandwich, a staple of southern culinary history!

Learning the history of Borroum’s Drug Store was fascinating; from the architecture and lineage of the Borroum family, to the business’ transformation from drug store to so much more!

The local landmark was modernized in the late thirties, adding a new soda fountain with booths, tables, and jukebox. Updates to the architecture and interior were installed while maintaining its rich history and aesthetic.

From Borroun’s - “The old soda fountain is still very much in the center of things and is kept in perfect operation. It has everything from "real" malted milkshakes to their famous ice cream sodas. Of course there are the cherry phosphates and "genuine" old fashioned cokes.”

From today’s menu, the slugburger is still a best seller and inspiration for Corinth’s annual Slugburger Festival. Created out of need to stretch ingredients during the depression era, the slugburger is a combination of pork, flour, spices, and more. It’s traditionally served on a bun with mustard, pickles, and onion.

Since the famous local delicacy might not be for everyone, no worries, they offer several mouthwatering hidden gems on the menu that will have you coming back for more!

The Slugburger is prepared to a golden brown with all topping available. You can dress it any way you like, however I prefer the traditional mustard, pickles, and onion. If I’m feeling a little crazy I may add cheese.

The Ruben sandwich is a family favorite of mine. It’s traditionally constructed with thinly sliced corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut on rye bread slathered with Russian or Thousand Island dressing.

Not many restaurants offer Rubens and are truly decadent when done right. I'm not sure when it was included on the Borroum's menu, but it tastes like it's been refined to perfection over the years!

Savor the Flavor of their Philly Cheese Steak with Grilled Peppers and Onions!
This sandwich was nothing short of mouthwatering! It was a perfect fusion of grilled peppers and onions with the cheese steak, creating an irresistible taste. It's a blend of flavors where each ingredient is distinct and yet perfectly harmonized, making it impossible to distinguish where one ends and the next begins.

The Double Cheeseburger was a sight to behold! The hand-formed beef patties were grilled to perfection with a delightful crunch around the edges. Each patty looked to be around 8oz each. The burger was already oozing with two layers of cheese, making my mouth water before I even took my first bite!

A genuine soda fountain can make all the difference in the flavor of a Cherry Coke Float. The taste is unparalleled when it is made from scratch and crafted with expertise. Trust me, it's a delectable treat you won't want to miss out on! Just pick your flavors and enjoy!

The Strawberry Milkshake is perfect for pairing with a burger or as a decadent treat! Whether you're looking for a tasty drink to complement your favorite burger or an indulgent treat to savor after your meal, the Strawberry Milkshake is the perfect choice. Served in a glass with a metal mixing cup, you're sure to enjoy every last drop. Plus, there's usually enough left over in the cup for a second serving!

Finney’s Sandwich Shop @ 1009 West Main, Tupelo. A Reader’s Choice Winner and long time Tupelo favorite!

Finney’s has been a part of Tupelo’s history since 1981. For some, it’s been a lifetime, depending on your perspective.

Although the minute man atop the Finneys Sandwich’s sign is no longer there, you can still enjoy a tasty freeze and hand patted burger just as many have done for decades.

There are a LOT of local favorites at Finney’s, some might say legendary. Like their hand patted cheeseburger, famous potato salad and an orange freeze!

The burger patties were crafted by hand, the toppings bursting with freshness, a symphony of flavor in every bite! But let's be real, one burger would have done the trick, yet who can resist the allure of a towering double decker? Not this burger fanatic!

The Ribeye steak sandwich is always a great choice! Thinly sliced ribeye, mayo, lettuce, and tomato on toasted bread. It’s simply delicious!

This was the first time I’ve ever tried their baked beans. WOW! Totally my bad for looking past this delicious side! It’s made with a rich tangy sauce and bits of ground beef. It goes great paired with the potato salad.

The potato salad is their signature dish and is pure awesomeness! They make it in house and it’s always in demand. In fact, if you want to order a larger amount for take out, you best call a day ahead.

If eating in, try dipping your chips in the potato salad. Yes, it’s two potatoes, but oh so good!

Another one of Finney’s favorites is the Orange Freeze. It starts out with a whole orange, sliced in half and juiced. Then they add hand dipped sherbet, simple syrup, and just a hint of water. It's all blended and served up fresh for each customer! I always loved the taste, but now I can also appreciate how much work goes into each one!

For dessert I chose a slice the lemon icebox pie! They have a variety of fresh slices of pie to choose from, so definitely grab one for now or later! I’ve had regrets, but ordering pie has never been one of them.

Whether you’re wanting to relive old memories or make new ones, Finney’s in Tupelo is a great place to start!

Skybox Sports Grill Pizzeria @ 127 City Market Dr, Saltillo, MS. Open Mon-Sat, lunch & dinner.

I first visited Skybox Sports Grill - Pizzaeria back in 2016 and have enjoyed eating with them several times since. Skybox is well known to the locals, but just off the beaten path, so travelers passing by may not notice.

The residents of Saltillo have definitely took notice since Skybox opened over a decade ago. Their delicious food, family friendly atmosphere, and relaxing vibe is just a taste of what they have to offer when you visit.

Dedication to the craft is evident in every dish serve at Skybox. From the meticulously presented plates to the delectable flavors, the owner and staff put their heart and soul into every detail.

Mozzarella Sticks - Six hand cut cheese sticks breaded in in house seasoned flour with warm marinara sauce on the side. This is a perfect appetizer to lead into their huge 16” pizza!

16” large Pepperoni Pizza - If you're ordering a single topping pizza like mine, you're in for a treat. It comes loaded with a generous layer of pepperoni and sauce, transforming a simple cheese pizza into a mouthwatering masterpiece. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing, but it was also thick and delicious. A kid favorite!

BBQ Spud - This BBQ potato is my new favorite! It’s a huge potato filled with finely pulled / chopped pork, white queso cheese, bacon, and jalapeños. The pork toppings provided by The Smoking Section. They supply custom Smoked Meats, Game Day Packs, Holiday Cooking, Custom Dry Rubs, Sauces & Sides to individuals and local restaurants.

Club Sandwich- For Club Sandwich connoisseurs, you might want to check out the one built by Skybox. It’s a stacked toasted sandwich with sliced turkey, ham, crispy bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. It’s got a lot of tasty flavors and texture that meld together perfectly.

Patty Melt - The patty melt isn’t as tall as the other Skybox specialty burgers, but does provide maximum taste in a smaller package! Two slices of toasted bread is carefully layered with a house prepared ground beef patty, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and Pub sauce. This is marked as a local favorite, and with just one bite it’ll be a favorite of yours too!
