Dear supporters:
We have concluded our 11th regular Season for Sistema Tulsa and this year was special. I had a chance to hear every ensemble and visit each classroom throughout our system. These experiences affirm what I have always known to be true: Music and the arts unearth potential in young people. It’s the combination of cognitive effort and emotionally rich learning that gives students so much to work towards and enjoy. This formula has great holding power, and it shows when they return year after year.

This year, our teaching teams decided to focus on building more technical proficiency and fundamental skills, taking things a little bit slower, yet we collectively learned over 60 works, from jazz to classical, folk and bluegrass music throughout the year!

I am proud of the community that Sistema is nurturing and inspiring. We've organized a community of local music teachers that is committed to the arts and positive youth development and we've helped over 1,000 students at the church main hub downtown and across satellites and partners at Tulsa Public Schools.

I want to thank you for your support and commitment to this program, whether you are parent, teacher, funder, or someone who has enjoyed our music in concert.

There is no aspect of this learning that is artificial or inconsequential. We cherish the ability to make music with our hands and our hearts and use the music to better ourselves and everyone around us.
