In Persuasive, Rather Than True, Addyson Hoey examines the blurred boundaries between digital and physical space, exploring how technology shapes the way we perceive and navigate the world. Through mixed-media paintings and digital collage processes, Hoey investigates themes of illusion, perception, and constructed reality, using digital effects such as drop shadows to bridge screen-based experiences with lived environments. Her work creates a dialogue between traditional painting, digital interfaces, and contemporary life, inviting viewers to consider how technology influences our understanding of what is real.

Originally from Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Hoey holds a BFA from the University of Arkansas and an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis.
