Now that the votes are in and my campaign for Tulsa City Council comes to an end, I’d like to express my sincere thanks to all my supporters including my family, volunteers (some who knocked doors in a very hot Oklahoma summer), the neighbors who took the time to stand on their porch and hear my spiel and didn’t make me talk to their Ring doorbell, and the political clubs and committees, media and community groups who gave space for all five candidates to be heard (not all of them did that). Although it wasn’t the outcome I’d hoped for, I’m eternally grateful for the friendships gained and the personal growth attained in just one year.

If you’re interested in hearing more, and at the risk of making myself vulnerable, I’d like to share in more detail what I learned and perhaps clear up a few things before I move on to my next big adventure with God. First, I’d like to say that I am not a Republican, a Democrat, a conservative, a liberal, a puppet, or a dud. These are all the boxes’ people tried to put me in, and I’m sure I’ve missed some. Rather, I am, first and foremost, a Christian, the daughter of the King of Kings, a wife, a mother and, just this year, a grandmother. These are the identities that shape and guide me on my path to wherever my father God leads me. I quickly learned that the political landscape is guided by fear causing a lot of people to use their energy to spread lies, tear down the candidates (not just me), and act like Christians but spreading love is not the end goal. It just breaks my heart to see people use so much of their energy, time, money and position to promote negativity rather than using it for good. People, we are all in this thing called life together and divisiveness, just like love, spreads like wildfire. I am certainly not innocent of being negative or acting in fear. I never saw myself as competitive but perhaps one of the reasons God led me on this path was to help me realize, and hopefully work through, the sinful temptations that arose and tried to convince me that I had to win even if it meant going against my beliefs. Ignoring and not responding to negative comments and messages was not easy at first, but once you do it, it’s actually pretty empowering.

I don’t say all this to condemn or be judgmental, by any means. I’m hoping this will help you choose to be guided by love, justice, and truth. I thank God for his patience with me and that he’s led me on this journey through the valley so that I could gain a wealth of experience and best of all to see my dedicated tribe of friends, family and colleagues encircle me with love and unwavering support.

To experience God’s love and peace today, simply start reading the bible and talking to God. He is faithful and as his word says, is no respecter of persons, he loves us all NO MATTER WHAT. Peace out!

The people we choose to represent us on the Tulsa City Council are the architects of our city’s future. They are responsible for making decisions on a wide range of issues that affect us daily including emergency services, transportation, infrastructure, housing, arts, amenities, and economic development. Who we entrust to these roles matters as much, if not more, as who we choose to lead the state and nation because their decisions influence our everyday lives.

Having lived, worked, and volunteered in our district for over 30 years, I am deeply invested in the well-being and growth of our community. For over a decade, I have worked as a City of Tulsa employee, providing financial oversight for federal grants. This professional experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the complexities of local government and the importance of transparency and responsible financial management. This knowledge base and the strong working relationships I have developed in this role makes me uniquely qualified to put my experience and connections to work for YOU on DAY ONE.

Oh the places you'll go! That timeless book by Dr. Seuss is the first thing that came to mind as I embark on the final week of campaigning before the primary election. Tonight was so busy but so special. I started the night at a meet-and-greet for the Hispanic community at Plaza Santa Cecilia (Thanks, Blanca!). Then I attended what will be one of Councilor Cue's last town hall meetings 😔 to hear about our city's new Zink Lake Park opening next weekend. The meeting after the meeting was the highlight of the evening hearing Rep elect Mike Lay share stories of Carbondale Assembly of God from back in the day and Councilor Cue's passionate accounts of how she fought to make sure district two was not overlooked. I'd be remiss if I didn't say thank you, Marshall, Jeremy and Dustin with IBEW Local 584 for joining me tonight and for all your support. I love my Tulsa and my district two community so very much! Thanks be to God for his perfect plans for me. Let's go!

Today was another great day spent visiting with voters. Campaigning may not be easy, but door knocking truly rejuvenates me! I heard many inspiring stories, including ones of resilience, such as a person celebrating 21 years of sobriety, contentment, as many expressed their love for living in the district, and concerns about the rise in homelessness.
