If you’re heading to the Made in Tucson Market on November 30, come find me at Smebble (Booth #99, just south of the MinT merch and info tents on 5th Ave). I always love reconnecting with this community!🏜️❤️
Really vibing with this year's Made in Tucson Market illustration by the talented Johnny Carrillo 🤓
I’m excited to share that I’ll be a vendor at their next market on November 30! This is easily one of my favorite events of the year. It's full of good vibes, community spirit, and a ton of incredible handcrafted goods by local creatives. I’ll have originals, bookmarks, gift tags, magnets, mugs, and a mix of other Smebble treasures ready for the holidays.
If you’re exploring the market, come find me at booth 99 and say hi. I’d love to see you there! 💙

Apologies to anyone who was planning on visiting me at Medella Vina Ranch today. Due to the chance of rain, the ranch needs to shift their setup to keep the band and electrical equipment safe, which means the artist tables had to be cancelled.
I’m really sorry for the last minute change and any disappointment this causes. If you were hoping to stop by and you’ll be in Tucson on November 30, come see me at the Made in Tucson Market. I’ll have a little something for you 💖

Could my smile get any bigger? Perhaps, but I think not! 😁
Sail Between the Lines found a new home tonight! Thank you so much to the collector who connected with this piece, and to the juror and the Tubac Center of the Arts for the opportunity to exhibit my work in such a beautiful space ❤️

If you’re looking for an inspiring way to start your weekend, the Members’ Juried Exhibition at the Tubac Center of the Arts is celebrating its opening reception tonight at 5pm. I’d love for you to join me and experience all the artwork in person, including my piece "Sail Between the Lines."
Spanning time, place, and culture, public domain quotes from 36 women writers form the current beneath this cut-paper seascape. The layered text and symbols reflect the perseverance of women’s voices, the challenges we navigate, and the legacies we carry forward.
If you’re in Tubac this evening, I hope you’ll stop by. And if you’re visiting later this season, the exhibition runs through December 27 and is filled with original work by Southern Arizona artists.

What made last night so special was everyone who came through the gallery and spent time really looking, asking questions, and sharing their own connections to the desert at dawn. Thank you for bringing such positive and thoughtful energy to the opening of Sonoran Hourglass: Dawn’s Early Light!
It was also wonderful meeting the other artists in the show and seeing all of our work together for the first time. The many ways we each interpreted the start of a desert day made for such a rich and inspiring experience.
If you didn’t get a chance to make it to the reception, the show runs through February 1 at Tohono Chul. There will also be Curator’s Talks next week on Tuesday (Nov 18) and Thursday (Nov 20) at 10am. I’ll be attending the Thursday session in case you’d like to join me and learn more about all the artworks together 🌄

If you’ve ever paused to listen to the way the desert wakes up each morning, you’ll understand the inspiration behind this piece.
'Sunrise Song' reflects the way morning birdsong marks the passage of time. Growing up in Australia, I woke to the laughter of kookaburras. Here in the Sonoran Desert, it’s the cactus wren whose call signals the start of the day with a similar cadence.
In this artwork, the wren and ocotillo are stylized in a balance of geometric structure and organic movement, echoing the rhythm you feel at dawn. The fractured halo behind them suggests both sound and light, capturing that moment when memory, place, and time overlap.
If dawn is your favorite transition of the day, this exhibition is a beautiful way to step into it 🌄

Over the past year I’ve had some exciting opportunities to exhibit my fine art, and it got me thinking about how best to share the different sides of my creative work.
To make things clearer, I’ll be using two dedicated spaces for my studio practice:
🎨 Myra Teak - Artist: Fine Mixed Media Art
Original artworks, portfolio updates, process & techniques, inspiration, exhibitions, classes, and behind-the-scenes from my studio.
♻️ Smebble: Upcycling Projects & Reproductions
Handcrafted products from studio scraps, digital prints on mugs, totes & more, upcoming markets & festivals, eco-friendly packaging strategies, and gifts that give back.
This way, you can follow along with whichever path speaks to you most (or both!).
Thank you for your patience while I’ve been refining things behind the scenes. I’m so grateful for your support, and I can’t wait to share upcoming Smebble events starting next month… stay tuned ✨
