AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) At Prototron Circuits we run all inner-layer cores thru this machine to eliminate flaws prior to lamination. If you skip this you run a good chance of putting time and effort into a board that will be scrapped at test. By then it's time too ship the order, and you will be late. This is just a part of what consistently being on time requires.
