*Attention Owner operators and company owners. The current increase in rates due to the higher fuel prices should not equate to pay raise for your dispatchers and drivers. At HP Auto we calculate the difference in $ per gallon from when fuel was lower and the current real time average $per gallon for a truck and multiply that by the gallons used. That amount is subtracted from the gross fees and that is what our fee is based on and that is how the drivers are paid. The increased rates is not based on supply and demand. Owner operators should not take on the cost of paying the higher fuel cost and more to their dispatchers and drivers. If your dispatchers have not adjusted their pay you are losing money. A planner knows the diffence between paid miles and actual miles then plans to keep the 2 as close as possible . A planner knows the best emergency response (repairs) along the route. Asking the groups for advice is a good start. But I strongly recommend you trust but verify.

In one day a broker with good ratings had six 1 Star ratings post to their Central Dispatch account all for double brokering and not paying the drivers. These scammers are getting more creative each day. Make sure you or your dispatcher verifies the surety bond of all brokers for any load that is not paying cod. Any load being paid via Zelle, cash app, Pay Pal , etc at delivery by the broker are open to fraud. Beware of fraudulent brokers who have stolen the identity of legitimate brokers and carriers . Tonight I had a fraudulent broker try to convince me that the link he sent us was to set us up with their company. The link was for Central Dispatch. It wanted us to enter our user name and password. This was an immediate RED FLAG. Do not get lured into their trap with the posted good rates.
Make sure your dispatcher is experienced in the industry and not just dispatching. Knowledge of all aspect of our industry is required to protect yourself from the growing fraud.
