“Winter’s Damage” From a few months back.

“Lunch in Salzburg”. I like to draw when I dine. Whenever I do an urban sketch like this, I try to capture the ambiance of what I am experiencing, not just the scene. The landscape, architecture and the diners around me all play their parts. During lunch at this beer garten, I noticed the woman near me was having herself a smoke. She was well dressed in a black and white patterned outfit and was probably a local that frequented the restaurant because she didn’t order anything. She was just enjoying the diners around her. The couple having wine were in an engaged conversation and obviously enjoying one another’s company. The architecture was inspiring (and difficult to draw) and the food, excellent. We had such a great lunch with good friends. We loved Salzburg! If you’ll notice, I had a little fun w/the tree!

“Paradise Lost” Everyone has a soft/hard, light/dark side. I guess you can say this is my softer artistic side. Its title is in reference to the state our world is currently in. The adage “you don’t know what you have ‘til it’s gone” applies now more than ever. I was struck by a 1970 photograph by Bea Nettles of a young hippie sitting in a rocking chair, staring into the distance. I placed her in a field of flowers - peaceful & content yet unaware of what the future may bring. Change is inevitable but enjoy the moment because the present could very well be the times you long for again.
