Summer heat waves are expected this year and our pets rely on us to keep them safe from the dangers of extreme temperatures.

𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀:

🚗 Never leave a pet unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes
💧 Ensure fresh, cool water is always available.
🏠 Keep pets indoors during the hottest parts of the day.
🌳 Provide plenty of shade if pets must be outside.
🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.
🔥 Test pavement with the back of your hand—if it's too hot for you to hold for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your pet's paws.

🚨 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆-𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:

• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Bright red gums
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Collapse or seizures

Some pets are at higher risk, including brachycephalic (flat-faced) breeds, senior pets, overweight pets, and those with underlying medical conditions.
