Singing gibberish in front of a camera is SO uncomfortable. I'm cringing hard posting this, but doing it because I love sharing this art, and hope other people can see that it's a lot simpler than they might think.

There's just 36 hours left to access my course, before it's no longer free, as well as register for my songwriting workshops. Then I'll be done posting into a void for a while. I can't keep this up lol.

2 words, each 1 syllable. The first is super singable. The other feels rushed and out of place in a songwriting context in time with music. Why is this? Syllables are NOT created equal. There's a reason why a baby's first word isn't "squelch". Well probably more than 1 reason LOL, but a 1-syllable word like this requires way more than just 1 mouth shape. Before the muscles are developed in a baby's face, they simplify mouth shapes to make them easier to speak. In a similar way, certain songs are just more fun to sing back, simply because the lyrics are easier to speak and sing back. If you want a quick way to make your lyrics more singable, start with identifying the words that require more mouth mechanics/muscles, and work on replacing them with easier-to-speak words. Even in a 4-syllable word, like "complication" the mouth mechanics can be pretty relaxed. Give it a shot and let me know how it goes!

Imagine telling a kid that it's worthless trying to build a sand castle unless it looks like the Sistine Chapel. That's basically what you're saying to your inner child when you decide not to try something creative because you know it's going to look/sound bad. Of course it's going to be mediocre! Probably the first 10-20 times you do it. No ones asking you to broadcast that to the world, but that reality doesn't deserve to take the fun out of the process.

Songwriting is such a great tool for self-reflection and growth, and I'm so passionate about sharing that with the world, that I spent 2 MONTHS building this free Mini Songwriting Course. There's nothing like writing and singing back your song, hearing those ideas reflected back at you. And ANYONE can do it.

Below (in the comments) is the link to Chapter 1 (of 3) where we break down some songwriting myths that hold a lot of people back. After that, we'll be writing a song together from scratch!
