πŸ’ Troy Albany Titans 12U Minor player Trent Murley attends the 53rd Annual Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing! πŸ’

This June, Trent joined 102 players from across the United States at the renowned Stan Mikita Hockey School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, held in the Chicago area from June 13–20. Participants traveled from 31 states, including one family that made the 2,800-mile journey from Anchorage, Alaska, to attend this unique experience.

Now in his third year at the camp, Trent continues to benefit from the opportunity to connect with fellow deaf and hard of hearing hockey players who share similar experiences both on and off the ice.

Trent’s hard work, leadership, and outstanding play throughout the week earned him the school’s prestigious Most Outstanding Player Award, a tremendous honor among a talented group of athletes from across the country.

β€œI have so much fun spending the week with players from across the country who have a similar disability,” Trent said. β€œI get to learn from great coaches, make new friends, and improve my hockey skills.”

In addition to developing his game, Trent has learned some American Sign Language (ASL) and communication strategies that help him better connect with teammates throughout the week. The experience has helped him build friendships, confidence, and skills that extend far beyond the rink.

Trent hopes to meet more hockey players from New York State at future camps and encourages any deaf or hard of hearing players to consider attending this incredible experience.

The Stan Mikita Hockey School provides a one-of-a-kind environment where young athletes can develop as hockey players while celebrating the deaf and hard of hearing community.

If you know of any hockey players in New York who are deaf or hard of hearing, please share this opportunity with them!
