The CDC has released additional guidance to the CSO giving cruise lines two options to resume sailing from the U.S. (95% of passengers and 98% of crew vaccinated OR conduct simulated voyages) …

WHAT WE KNOW....
- The CDC announcement does not provide a specific date on when cruises can resume sailing from the U.S.
- We are still uncertain when cruising will fully begin because the cruise lines need to review the details of the sailing order, come up with a plan and make adjustments.
- The CDC's recent announcement gives cruise lines the option to sail from U.S. ports if 95% of passengers and 98% of crew are vaccinated, or they can conduct test cruises.
- This is positive news for the cruise industry as it means that ships have the ability to sail again soon out of the U.S.
- Once cruise lines can demonstrate successful cruises based on the CDC’s technical guidelines they will be able to move to Phase 3 of the order which includes their certificate to sail.
Simulated Voyages:
For the test cruises, the CDC issued guidance for both vaccinated and not fully vaccinated passengers, however, the cruise lines have not announced what their requirements will be.
