Our friend Ella Skrocki at Sleeping Bear Surf is hosting a critically important event tomorrow - Surf Rescue Training. Surfers are uniquely positioned as skilled waterpeople, in the water, with a flotation device, to help rescue others who may find themselves in trouble. You never know when you might need these life saving skills. Please come take advantage of this valuable training and make a donation if you can to help support this opportunity and future training opportunities.

🌊THIS SATURDAY - Join us for a Surf Rescue Training at the Empire Public Beach Lighthouse from 9am - 11am 🌊

Learn the basics of Surf Rescue with surf rescue professional & accomplished lifeguard Faith Hoekstra.

Surfers save lives, and as drowning rates continue to rise in the Great Lakes in the approach to Autumn, we want to give you some skills to respond safely & confidently when someone needs help in the water.

What you’ll learn:
* Situational Awareness
* Elements of a Rescue: Approach • Stabilize • Transport
* Practice Rescue Scenarios

Free & open to all — come learn, practice, and protect our community.

*Any donations will go to continuing surf rescue events & trainings.

Call Gov. Whitmer and EGLE Director Roos 04/17/2025

The U.S. Army Corps just announced it will fast-track the approval of Enbridge’s dangerous LINE 5 OIL TUNNEL - without a full environmental review.

We can’t let this slide.

We can no longer rely on the federal government to protect the Great Lakes from this dangerous tunnel. Call Gov. Whitmer and EGLE Director Phil Roos today to demand a full environmental impact study of this risky Great Lakes tunnel project. It's easy.

Call Gov. Whitmer and EGLE Director Roos Ask Whitmer and EGLE to Deny the Line 5 Oil Tunnel Permit.
