Sometimes there’s nothing better than a beautifully hand-dyed solid colorway. While commercial solids can often feel flat, Breakwater has incredible depth and richness that only hand dyeing can create.

Inspired by the coast and perfectly suited for the Fresh Coast Fiber Festival this weekend, this colorway captures those deep shoreline blues and calming lakefront vibes that feel right at home here in Traverse City.

Breakwater is currently available in both Fi*****ng and DK weights — and like all Reaction Yarn colorways, it can be custom dyed on nearly any yarn base you’re looking for. If we don’t have your preferred weight in stock, we’ll happily dye it just for you! ✨

Let’s be honest… mini skeins themselves are nothing new. BUT our Reaction Yarn Test Tubes? Those are uniquely us. 🧪🧶✨

Our mini skeins are packaged in signature test tubes to bring a little extra fun and personality to the Reaction Yarn experience — and every tube is filled with colorful surprises.

One of our favorite things about creating these minis is that many of them are made from leftover dye combinations used during our full skein dye sessions. Instead of letting beautiful color go to waste, we experiment, mix, and play with it — creating one-of-a-kind minis you may never see again exactly the same way.

Of course, we can/will dye minis to match any of our full colorways, but there’s something especially fun about the unexpected combinations and happy accidents that happen in these test tubes. 💜🌈

We’re also considering launching a monthly “Mini of the Month” subscription where you’d receive a surprise test tube mini every month! We’re still in the planning stages, so we would absolutely love your input.

Today’s Reactive Reveal is… Plum Eclipse! 💜✨

Deep shades of plum and rich purple flow throughout this colorway, revealing new surprises with every twist and turn of the skein. Bold punches of vibrant purple mingle with soft amethyst tones that seem to play peek-a-boo throughout the yarn, creating stunning depth and movement for any project.

And somehow… we’re officially in the final week leading up to the highly anticipated Fresh Coast Fiber Festival! 🧶

Being lucky enough to live and hand dye our yarn right here in Traverse City makes this event feel even more special to us. Everywhere we go, we’re hearing the excitement and buzz surrounding the festival — and honestly, we may be even more excited than the wonderful customers we keep running into around town. 😄
