Sunrises are a gift to my soul…. And this is why 🌅
I remember the days I would go to bed hoping to not wake up the next day. I just moved to a new house, new town, new baby (I had four children, 6 years old and under) and I felt like I was drowning in a world I could never feel alive in again.
Life was so hard and if this is how you feel I want to encourage you that you CAN feel like yourself again. There is HOPE that the spark you lost is still there waiting to be ignited 🔥 It won’t be easy but damn it, if you want it you can have it!
I knew I needed a change, I wasn’t willing to get on medication for depression so I hired a personal trainer (remotely) and set some goals. Goal #1- I wanted to feel strong again. I wanted to get back into competing in powerlifting as an adult. #2- I wanted to feel like myself again or get as close as I could (I honestly believed I wouldn’t feel like myself ever again)
Within 4 months of weight training, walking and hitting my protein goal, I felt like myself x 10! I was shocked at how amazing I felt. I was still drinking many glasses of wine every night, my nutrition wasn’t nailed down completely, I wasn’t even getting close to 8 hours of sleep every night. But I never missed a workout. It was something I could look forward to every morning 💪🏼

As a mom, at what point did it become selfish taking care of ourselves?
Take a moment and reflect on that…
Why is it that we have put this ultimate pressure on ourselves as mothers to serve our children 24/7, while letting our hobbies & health goals go to the wayside?
You NEED you! Yes, your children need you and you need YOU more.
Our commitment to our hobbies & health goals aren’t taking away from our children. It actually improves how we mother them. It’s a gift for them.
– Who doesn’t want more energy as a mom?
– Showing your children what having passion for life looks like is priceless.
– Having them see you do hard things over & over again to hit certain goals you have is inspirational.
Moms your children are watching you. You are sooooo powerful in their lives. Be the example that you want for themselves as they age.
This picture of me (in the middle) is from my bike race today! Saturday bike races aren’t ideal as we have kids in sports every weekend. My youngest even asked me to skip my bike race to go to his game.
And my answer was, “how about you skip your football game to come to my bike race.”
He laughed and said, “what if I get an interception?”
I said, “Buddy, get an interception and I’ll bring home a metal, and we can share our stories once we get back home from our events.”
When I walked into the door from my race my oldest came up to me saying how proud he was and my youngest ran up the stairs saying “Did you do it Mom? Did you take first?” Seriously, a moment I won’t forget! Your children see you, they know you’re coming back home, they know your events/goals are important too. Be the example moms! It’s really powerful & inspiring for them to see achieving are things.
