a quick re-edit and replacement.

"The Last Day of Christmas"

(one from late November, 2006)

This month has had plenty of "not-so-fun" moments (and weeks). All hinged on work and all affected everything else I had ongoing or wanted to accomplish with "Christmas" and more.

During one week, later in the month, rather remarkably I did spend a little time revisiting the "holiday card" idea. In a good year, these were thought of and produced early enough (as in October or November!) to actually mail! Being thought of the week before Christmas guaranteed that wouldn't occur. Three original images were found that had space for text and could present a nice matching of images and words. The 2nd was already posted here.
The third started out simply as an image from decades ago with the memory of creation that allowed a connection to friends in New England facing some bitter cold nighttime temps (well, "bitter - single-digit - cold" temps from my N California point of view) - this was captured one chilly dawning morning in January 1988 on the shore of Mono Lake with a temperature hovering just above "0".
In thinking of them dealing with the cold while facing the warmth of time with family triggered the words to find me on the Friday drive home (And this homeward commute followed by one day a grueling 4+ hour drive home from San Francisco, with the first consuming a full hour just to get on to the Bay Bridge!).

So, I guess of the three card ideas, I saved the best till last.

I have three different "dementia" cases in my family and friends I care about. (well, four)
1. One is my late father-in-law, with Stroke Dementia
2. One is my sister-in-law dealing with a close person with Lewy Body Dementia (the illness that drove Robin Williams to su***de).
3. A good friend in New England has an Alzheimer's Dementia friend close in her extended family. A very dear cousin in New Hampshire has Alzheimer's in her extended family that she's helping care for. It's a soul-stealing illness
Three causes... different illnesses. Still all dementia.
