Listing pernambuco on Appendix I would devastate bow making and restoration, making it nearly impossible to trade the wood needed for high-quality bows. It would also burden musicians, who might face travel restrictions and endless paperwork just to perform with their own instruments.

Worse yet, it would actually hurt conservation efforts. Bow makers and restorers are some of the biggest supporters of sustainable harvesting and reforestation. Cutting them off cuts off funding and incentives to protect these forests.

In the end, we will damage classical music, craftsmanship, and real conservation work, all while failing to address the true threats to pernambuco: habitat loss from farming and development.
