What is just as alarming and misunderstood is the furniture we import built with US hardwoods is destined for a landfill in terms of how it is constructed. Furniture is a unique consumer good in that building standards and consumer quality assurance is non existent. You may expect new furniture means quality but what you'll be stuck with is the opposite.
