I have been thinking a lot about gardens lately.

Not just the ones planted in soil, but the ones we create around each other.

I was grateful to participate in The People's Artist 2026, a fundraiser supporting The Art of Elysium and their mission of connecting artists and communities through creativity.

What I walked away with was bigger than a competition.

A reminder.

Nothing meaningful grows alone.

Every painting carries an invisible ecosystem:
the conversations,
the encouragement,
the people who make space before anything has bloomed.

For a long time, I thought creativity lived somewhere separate.

After work.
After responsibilities.
After everyone else had what they needed.

But maybe creativity was never separate from those things.

Maybe it was growing because of them.

My paintings Teach Them, Family Garden, and Finding Balance have all been asking the same question:

How do we create spaces where people have permission to become?

To everyone who encouraged, shared, supported, or simply followed along — thank you for being part of this garden.

The work continues.

Keep planting seeds. You never know what might grow because you made room. 🌱
