Our Hidden Compass

There’s something special about walking through a place where history has been left standing.

We spent the afternoon exploring St. Elmo, one of Colorado’s best-preserved ghost towns, and it quickly became one of our favorite stops. The old church, general store, hotel, cabins, and boardwalks all make you wonder what life was like here during the mining days.

One of the biggest surprises wasn’t the buildings at all. It was the chipmunks! They have become part of the town’s charm, and if you’re lucky, you might make a tiny new friend.

If you’re traveling through central Colorado, we’d definitely recommend adding St. Elmo to your itinerary. It’s peaceful, scenic, full of history, and one of those places that reminds us why we love exploring back roads and hidden gems.

One thing we’ve learned after living full-time in our RV is that summer heat affects more than just the temperature inside your refrigerator.

The cooling unit on the back of the fridge needs good airflow to work efficiently. When outside temperatures climb, that area can get extremely hot, making the refrigerator work even harder.

That’s why we added an exterior refrigerator fan behind our fridge. It’s a simple upgrade that helps move hot air away from the cooling unit and improve airflow during those hot summer days.
