Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

At Dream Acres, we believe every vulnerable adult deserves to live with dignity, safety, and respect. Whether due to age, disability, or conditions like Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), many individuals are at increased risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and manipulation.

Today, we encourage our community to raise awareness, start conversations, and advocate for protections that preserve both safety and personal dignity.

Thank you Governor Laura Kelly for this valuable step.

Every person deserves a voice. Every person deserves protection. Every person deserves respect.

💜 Empowered & Heard: Dream Acres Celebrates World Elder Abuse Awareness Day! 💜

We are incredibly proud to share that some of our amazing Dream Acres residents recently had the honor of participating in a official proclamation signing for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD)! 📜

✨This powerful moment highlights a critical truth: safeguarding our vulnerable community members is a responsibility we all share. For adults living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), this awareness is especially vital. Due to unique neurological challenges, individuals with FASD can sometimes face difficulties with social cues, executive functioning, and abstract concepts—making them prime targets for those who prey on vulnerable adults through financial scams, emotional manipulation, or neglect.True protection starts with awareness, advocacy, and community. By standing together for WEAAD, our residents are not just raising their voices for older adults—they are highlighting the need for safety, respect, and strong protective circles for all vulnerable individuals.Thank you to everyone who made this proclamation participation possible! Together, we are building a safer, more inclusive Kansas & world. 🤝💜
