You’ll want to sign up during your Initial Enrollment Period, which is a 7‑month window:

3 months before your 65th birthday
Your birthday month
3 months after

This helps you avoid gaps in coverage and possible penalties.

Good news — you may not need to enroll right away.
If you have creditable employer coverage (through your job or your spouse’s job), you can usually delay Medicare Part B without penalty.
