Nothing could be more frustrating that installing a thermostat and finding out there is a technical difficulty with it or trying to trouble shoot one that you think may not be working right. Well here is a way to test your thermostat. Which ever function is not working whether it's the cooling, heating or fan there is an easy way to test to see if the thermostat is sending or not sending a signal to bring that function on. Simply pull off the thermostat from the subbase. Test to see if 24 volts is present at the thermostat and if required a jumper in place. Now let's say the cooling was not coming on but, the indoor fan is coming on. Simply take a jumper wire and place one end on R and the end on Y. Doing this gives a signal to the condensing unit to come on. If the condenser comes on then the thermostat is not sending a 24 volt signal to the condenser and the thermostat should more than likely be changed out.

Remember when absolutley lost for cfm to a room calculate lxwxhx6÷60 will give you cfm. This is for a room with no extra heat load.
L= length
W=width
H=height
6= air changes per hour
÷60= to change hours to minutes.

When installing a new unit always pressure check welds with dry nitrogen and then pull a vacuum to ensure all non condensibles are removed.
