INEQUALITIES DAY 2! 💥

Today consisted of a ton of practice opportunities and some small groups to make sure students were understanding the basics. This inequalities puzzle decoder was one of the tasks for today and students always *love* the corny math jokes that come with them.

Tomorrow is all about graphing inequalities on number lines, which means it’s a whiteboard practice day - one of my favorites!

Starting 2025 with a SNOW DAY! ❄️❄️❄️

This is my little guy’s first snow day ever and my first snow day out of school in two years❗️and it came at the best time by extending our winter break by a day!

After spending a lot of the last two weeks sick, this extra day is feeling like such a gift. 🙌🏼

SLOPE POSTERS NOW AVAILABLE! 🏂⛷️

I made these posters a few years ago when I first started teaching Algebra, in addition to 6th grade math, and these guys have been lifesavers!

Not just for Algebra, but these posters can be used as early as 7th grade when students are first introduced to the concept of slope and “rise over run”. Also great for upper level math classes when students need that subtle reminder of the basics.

Math vocabulary can be tough for students to conceptually understand when first introduced.

Labels like these throughout the classroom can help make them REAL! This year, I put these horizontal & vertical labels on the back of my door. But in the past, I’ve used them on my bulletin board, whiteboard, presenter screen, etc. They work anywhere with a little bit of tape!

Winter break is finally here and man, do I need it! I’ve been so sick the last couple days and have been trying to power through because sub plans are an even bigger pain than being sick. 😅 But I am so thankful for these next two weeks of sleeping in, cozying up under blankets, and celebrating the Christmas magic with my little family. 🎅🏻

Exponents day 7 and only 3 MORE DAYS before break!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Final day of practice before our quiz tomorrow and then on to pre-winter break activities for the rest of the week. Finally!! 👏🏼

We used task cards to practice everything we’ve learned so far with evaluating exponents, perfect squares, square roots, and powers of 10. Great way to wrap up a topic before a long break. I might even pull them out again for quick practice when we return to see what they remember!

The color by number also worked well as a quick and easy extra credit assignment for the quiz to help give some students another opportunity for extra practice.

Magic Puzzles on Exponents Day 4!

This is the first magic puzzle my kids have done this year and they absolutely crushed it! They worked so well with partners and we even got to enjoy some Christmas music in the background 🎅🏻👏🏼

Followed the puzzle up with a Pick 2 activity where students were given 3 different practice puzzles or activities (like the puzzle decoder shown here!) and got to choose which 2 to complete for a quick and easy classwork grade.
