SPORTS VISION
October 3–4, 2026 | Online Course | 14 CE Hours
Although optometry has long been involved in sports, its role is greatly under-utilized. Most “sports vision” services stop at prescribing contact lenses and protective eyewear — but the optometrist practicing from a behavioral perspective has the opportunity to make a real difference in an athlete’s actual performance.
This two-day course teaches attendees how to help athletes improve performance and how to help athletes recovering from concussion or mTBI return to — and even exceed — their prior levels of performance. It builds on the core OEPF Clinical Curriculum, using case examples throughout so attendees can apply what they already know to this fascinating, rewarding population.
Led by Dr. JJ Lant, the course moves from general visual difficulties, to activities beneficial for athletes overall, to sport-, position-, and offense/defense-specific work — covering basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, football, soccer, and drag strip racing. Every participant receives a course manual with suggested readings and sports vision screening materials.
