Ultrasounds are an amazing tool and give us helpful information, but they aren't perfect - especially when it comes to estimating baby's size. š¤·š»āāļø
Hearing that your baby may be "too big" or "too small"doesn't take away your ability to CHOOSE how you want to move forward. Ask questions, talk about it, and follow your peace!

Two of the most effective labor tools that don't cost any money:
Your breath & your mind. š¬ļøš§
While there are plenty of labor tools that I love and recommend (including hiring a doula!)...At the end of the day, it comes down to you.
Your breath.
Your mind.
Your nervous system.
Your desires.
Your birth.
No matter how you labor or give birth, practicing relaxing breathing patterns and having affirmations to repeat to yourself are incredibly helpful for coping. š¤

I have the honor of serving moms in all birth settingsāhospital, birth center, and home.āØ
One thing that I love about home birth is the depth of midwifery care you receive. Appointments are typically an hour long, allowing space to discuss anything and build a truly trusting relationship.āØ
Postpartum care also happens in your home (in bed!) while you rest and recover, with visits typically on days 1, 3, and 5, and at weeks 2, 4, and 6āat least four times more than standard hospital care.. Your midwife is also available as needed for questions or concerns.
āØHome birth is not everyone's dream or desire, but I do wish everyone could experience this kind of midwifery care. It can be life changing. š„°

2 years and 5 months of breastfeeding... 3 years and 2 months of sharing my body with my (now big) baby boy.
It is so bittersweet.
We snuggled cheek to cheek last night and tears streamed down my face as I thought about all the days and nights we've spent physically connected. I have loved it. š„ŗš¤š„°

āThereās no benefit in waiting.ā
To check your cervix.
To induce labor.
To break your water.āØTo start Pitocin.āØTo move to a cesarean.
But⦠isnāt there?
Even if the benefit is simply peace of mind.āØAcceptance of your circumstance.āØOne last warm meal.āØA quiet night in your own bed.
If thereās no true emergencyāāØor a strong likelihood of oneāāØthen data isnāt the only thing that matters.
Your peace matters.āØYour autonomy matters.āØYour research matters.āØYour desires matter.
Because your birth story isnāt defined by statistics. It is defined by you.

Happy 2nd birthday to my baby boy, Theo. His homebirth story makes me smile for so many reasons. š„°
Im so thankful I had such amazing care from my midwife team (peaceful beginnings / Lori Hedlund, Betty & Hannah), that we had capture the experience, and that my husband and daughter were together for it.
The following 40 days snuggled at home are still some of the most precious Iāve ever experienced. š¤
I do still wish he waited for 40 weeks so he would have been a May baby and 10lbs (he was 9lb 14oz)⦠oh well š

As you prepare your space for welcoming a new baby, I love to help prepare YOU (and your partner!).
It is easy to feel like youāre drowning in the overload of information available to us via social media (and often contradicting info!)..
As your doula, my heart is to help you tune out the noise and focus on what really matters for you and your family; for your pregnancy, birth and your first few months of motherhood.āŗļø

Happy World Doula Week! š¤
To me, being a doula is much more than a job⦠itās a calling and an invitation into something much larger than myself. Supporting women and their partners in such vulnerable moments is an honor and privilege. To the mamas who choose to hire a doula, thank you. It is a joy to walk with you!
