My situation DID NOT define me.

I made my situation.

Father gone. Our house was falling apart.

My curtains were old blankets with holes in them. We used shirts to dry ourselves.

We lived off of food stamps. My brother and sister had mental disabilities and hearing loss that I helped raise.

Our back door was held up by a 2x4 after we got burglarized by masked men with AR’s.

I shook in my sleep for years.
