Rocky Point Ranch Montana

We have been Busy-Busy-Busy , with Customers, Cattle and just making the place more attractive. It all started in May and has not stopped. Add the extreme temperatures that everyone has experienced and we are ready for Fall to start tomorrow. Now we have Lightening fires that makes the sky seem like Los Angeles smog. Praying for rain to clean it all up and make it all normal again. On the positive side we are having more Weddings and reunions this year. Americans getting back to living their lives. To make myself happy I have been going to several auctions looking for" rust" and farm equipment. Can't believe people paying more than retail for used equipment but they did. I managed to buy some rust for my collection: Nice mower, a beautiful plow and a 1920's Fordson Tractor. Just got the tractor into place near the river:

Well it has been awhile since last post. To bring people up to speed, here is the latest. The calendar pages keep falling off and we see that it is time to start thinking about going back to the ranch. Got word that ice has left the river but still remains along the shoreline. Check out the boat ramp. Our resident "caretaker" Dave, emailed some photos of the first calf of the year. He choose to birth in the wee hours of the evening....yes, he, a black Angus cross. Two more to come by April.
The end of April will see us leave our warm home in Arizona. Sorry to leave but happy to go home to Montana.

We are finally leaving Montana to join our friends in Surprise Arizona. Stayed longer then we wanted but Patti did harvest her Big Horn sheep and a whitetail buck. I filled my Elk tag and a whitetail buck. So the Covered wagon is packed and the horses are ready to head out in the morning. Sad to go but happy to see the sun again.

It has been awhile since we left Arizona for Montana. We saw all the family in California and arrived at the Ranch 5 days later. The grass and weeds were having a contest, no winner declared. Before I could stop the Honda, Patti was out of the car pulling weeds and planting her garden. The weather was fantastic , no rain, blue skies and 75 degrees. It wasn't the May in Montana I expected. The river was low, the water was clear and the bass were on the bite.Two days later we were in Dean's boat fishing, relaxing and catching a lot of fish. Good thing because two days later it turned ugly, rain and wind. Snow was melting fast of the mountains, the river rose 3 feet and muddy. But Patti was happy because she got to go fishing and caught a big bass. Rain has finally left and time to clean up the mess.

As we rip off the pages of our Arizona Calendar, it is clear our time here is coming to an end. Just 2 plus weeks we load up the covered wagon and head back to Montana. Sad to leave but happy to see our home at Rocky Point Ranch. Not sure what the winter has done to the Ranch but mother nature always has a surprise. Last year it was a lot of water every where. What ever it maybe we will over come with a smile, just a joy to be home, Thompson Falls, Montana.
