This event is held in memory of the park's namesake, 48th Precinct Patrolman Alfred Loreto, who made the ultimate sacrifice. In 1950, while off duty, Patrolman Loreto witnessed a violent street robbery and kidnapping attempt. Without hesitation, he intervened to protect his community and was tragically and fatally shot. Let's come together to honor his bravery and revitalize this sacred community space.

🚨WANTED🚨 On 6/26/26 at around 5:13 am the pictured individual fired a round from a firearm outside 2285 Bathgate Avenue. If you recognize this individual or have any information regarding this incident, please contact us DM or Call: 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

🚨WANTED FOR R**E: On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at approximately 10:00 P.M., a 13-year-old female victim was on board a northbound BX9 MTA bus when she was approached by an unidentified individual. When the victim and unidentified individual exited the bus in the vicinity of Broadway and West 261 Street, in the confines of the 50 Precinct in the Bronx, the individual grabbed the victim and dragged her into a wooded area inside Van Cortlandt Park. The individual then sexually assaulted the victim and fled on foot to parts unknown.
