I have to be really honest. I haven’t wanted to make this post. I don’t wanna hurt anybody’s feelings, I don’t want to isolate anybody. I have tried to figure out the right way to phrase my beliefs. I have thought about not saying anything and just letting people know about it personally. But I am still on social media, I’m posting things for strangers to learn more about birth and fertility. And I wanted to be able to put a disclaimer about what I believe to be biblically sound. And I felt like it was important to put this out. I wanted a space for like-minded women to find information but not feel like they have to w**d out what is politically correct, what is commonly being used in secular media, but be able to listen to and learn from somewhere that they felt was speaking truth. I know this doesn’t seem like a big step to make. However, I really do want to make sure everybody felt welcomed. But I can’t change my language to go against what I believe.

This is just an amazing birth photo. Mama’s with their mamas at their births is so beautiful. I love seeing the dad and the love flowing from the new grandma. Tag your mama and tell me about how she’s an amazing grandma.

No question about it, informed consent during labor, delivery, and Postpartum is vital to having a healthy birth.

As a doula, I have witnessed care providers acting towards laboring mothers without giving them their full informed consent. Some of the actions being:
• vaginal exams;
• administration of the drug Pitocin;
• episiotomy;
• insisting that women get onto their backs;
• diagnosing a stalled labor and recommending a C-section, without fully offering the patient the option to wait (for an otherwise healthy mother and baby).

Dads are VITAL at births!

Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. However they sometimes get forgotten in all the preparation. What dad’s need at the hospital is often left out of the packing and planning of the all the bags that your planning on packing. However here’s a short list that will be so helpful in hours of your labor, birth, and delivery.

Dad’s this is what you need to be packing, if your partner’s birth is imminent.

•Spare clothes and toiletries
•Toothbrush and toothpaste
•Phone charger
•Snacks, chocolate, sweets and spare change
•Distractions to help you during labour. This could be music, pictures, anything
•Contact numbers loaded up on your phone
•The mindset ready to be an advocate for you support. His support and voice is vital!
