PV O&M Made Easy 11/12/2015

People who say “build it and walk away” are seriously incorrect when it comes to Solar-PV assets. At a cursory glance, Operations & Maintenance (O&M) cost on Solar-PV installation as portion of the overall system cost structure is relatively low. One can attribute this low operations and maintenance cost to not only fewer moving parts and existing manufacturer warranties but also to the nascent nature of the installation base (the majority of Solar-PV installations being less than 10 years old in North America) and the lack of well-established O&M methods. Curtailment and Cost Effective Renewable Energy Integration 11/03/2015

As renewable energy adoption increases in the market place, the term “curtailment” has become commonplace in the vernacular of those in the Solar & Wind energy markets. Curtailment refers to the involuntary reduction in power generation forcing the generating source to produce less power than it otherwise would have with its available resource. Renewable energy curtailment levels in North America is generally around 4% or less. [ 343 more words. ]

Econometric Modeling of Solar-PV Assets 10/27/2015

Solar PV Assets can be viewed as an annuity with variable cash flows. The variability in cash flow can be attributed to failures or performance degradation of on-field Solar-PV panels, Balance of system (BOS) components, deviations from expected weather patterns and other extraneous factors. Asset Owners and Managers are often confronted with the objective of maximizing asset utilization i.e. meeting expected yearly cash flows and more importantly meeting investment ROI across its expected lifetime. The impact of weather and related environmental variables on Solar-PV Performance 10/20/2015

The Sustainable Energy for All initiative (SE4ALL), launched by the UN in 2012, seeks to achieve a) Universal access to modern energy services b) Improve energy efficiency and c) Increase renewable energy contribution to the global energy mix by 2030. BNEF (Bloomberg New Energy Finance) reports that 70% of the new power capacity built between 2013 and 2030 will be in renewable sectors; 75% of this renewable capacity is expected to be from Solar & Wind Energy projects. Evaluating Battery Storage Investments for High Pe*******on Solar Deployments (HPSD) 10/12/2015

Variability and associated Grid Imbalance caused by Solar-PV Technologies remains a key bottleneck for High Pe*******on Solar Deployment (HPSD). With Renewable energy investments in leading global markets expected to grow by 50% by 2020, the global demand for Battery storage is expected to follow an asymptotic pattern. BCG (Boston Consulting Group) projects annual global sales of storage technologies to grow from €6 billion by 2015 to €15 billion by 2020, and €26 billion by 2030. [ 715 more words. ]
