We recommend waiting until the tape over your incision falls off on its own. This typically takes about three to four weeks, but if it stays on for six to eight weeks, your scar will heal significantly better.

Patients often ask about the risk of to***co exposure around the time of surgery. Research shows that discontinuing to***co use for approximately 28 days provides the maximum risk reduction. Beyond that point, continued abstinence makes little additional difference — until you reach the 15-year mark of cessation.

What I tell patients is this: stopping for about a month will give us the greatest risk reduction we can achieve in the short term, but you won't return to baseline risk until you've been to***co-free for approximately 15 years.
