What is National Little Free Library Day?

National Little Free Library Day takes place annually on May 17, kicking off the weeklong celebration of reading and community. It commemorates the date the organization became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2012, celebrating a global network of over 200,000 book-sharing boxes.

m.lfl reached out recently asking if River Acres Little Free Library would like to be part of their 2026 project. They are sending books to one Little Free Library in each state. We were chosen for Michigan!
