September is here and for Culp Insurance Agency that means we are preparing for the Medicare Annual Election Period (AEP). The time period Medicare has setup is October 15th to December 7th. During this time, those who have Medicare A or B, can choose a Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) with an effective date of January 1st. If you have Medicare A and B, you can sign up or change a Medicare Advantage Plan with or without drug coverage (MAPD) with an effective date of January 1st.

We are having Pre AEP meetings over the next 6 weeks in South Carolina upstate (Simpsonville) and in Indiana (Monticello) to explain your Medicare options, discuss the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplements. Medicare can be overwhelming when you consider how to navigate your way into it. That is one of our goals, to get you an understanding of how it all works. Feel free to bring friends or family members to assist with your decisions.

If you are approaching your 65th birthday or are over 65 and still working but anticipating retirement, call me and I will walk you through the steps you need to take prior to proceeding. We will need to talk at least 6 months prior to your needing Medicare to start.
