Wood Window Makeover

Public service announcement:

This is not joinery, and this is not a sash. It is a stage prop made to look like a sash.

An authentic window sash will indeed have a profile, but it won’t be assembled like this, but use what is known as “cope and stick” joinery.

This profile was added with a router bit and with a bearing on it, and was slid around the frame after it was assemble, with screws, dowels or nails - or some other way.

It will also have have mortise and tenon joinery throughout, at the very least, in the corners.

This sash was put together with screws.
