YBOR UPRISING: Backlash Grows Over Live Nation’s 4,300‑Seat Ybor City Venue Plan

A proposed 4,300-seat Live Nation concert hall in Tampa’s historic Ybor City is facing mounting opposition as residents and music fans warn the project could reshape the district’s notable independent music scene.

More than 12,000 people have signed a petition against the venue, which is part of the Gasworx redevelopment project.

Supporters say the project could generate $80 million in economic impact and create jobs, while critics fear corporate expansion could push out local culture—especially as iconic venue Crowbar prepares to close.
