The "Tata" is coming to America in 2015. I am not sure who is going to buy a 4 passenger car that in its current form has mechanical issues, zero creature comforts; like "Heat" and is known to occasionally burst in to flames!

The 2015 model is supposed be equipped with a 1.2 ltr 3 cylinder diesel engine that produces a neck snapping 60 hp! To be sold in the US, Tata Motors must supply airbags and traction/stability control as standard equipment. As for pricing there are no definite numbers, but the company has been quoted as targeting the sub $10,000 range.

I think everyone remembers how well the Yugo did with their attempt at introducing a low cost "Cheaply made" car into the American market in the early 1990's (for those who don't remember or were not born yet - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zastava_Koral )

I just don't see how the "Tata" is going to be successful at that price point. There is a few other cars in that segment that are a little bit more money, but as the old saying goes "No Good things are Cheap and no Cheap things are Good".

Do you think the American consumer will embrace the "Tata's" (little pun intended) or do you think it will be an even bigger flop than the Yugo?
