As South Florida continues to experience extreme summer temperatures, we've responded to an increase in heat-related illnesses throughout our community. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop quickly, especially for those working or exercising outdoors, older adults, and young children. Stay protected by drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, wearing lightweight clothing, and never leaving children or pets in a parked vehicle. If you or someone else begins experiencing dizziness, confusion, nausea, or stops sweating in the heat, move to a cooler location immediately and call 911.

On October 12, 2023, Team 96 attended the ground breaking for the new Broward Health stand alone ER. Today, Team 96 attended the grand opening of this much needed healthcare facility.

This is a full service ER that will be staffed 24/7, 365 days a year so that residents in the western portions of the county, including children, have access to the care they need when every second counts.

My congratulations to Broward Health, the City of Sunrise, and everyone who worked to make this ER a reality. I am thankful for the lives that will be saved because of the vision and forward thinking that made this happen.
