11: Corissa Burnell and Bodie Barton 05/21/2026

This episode was one of those conversations that reminded me exactly why I started the Talking Life in Vermont Podcast.

I sat down with Corissa Burnell and Bodie Barton from the Rutland Area Parent Child Center, and we talked about family, fatherhood, community, vulnerability, support, and the incredible work being done right here in Rutland County.

Bodie shared about the Fatherhood Program and Dad’s Café, a space for dads and male caregivers to connect, share a meal, talk honestly, and be reminded that they matter.

Corissa talked about the bigger mission of the Parent Child Center — supporting families with dignity, removing barriers, and making sure people have access to the resources they need when they need them.

This was a real, human conversation about the kind of work that doesn’t always get the spotlight, but absolutely helps shape the future of our community.

A huge thank you to ICO Electric for sponsoring this episode, and to The Hub for giving us a space to record these conversations.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to this episode — or even one of our past episodes — what are you waiting for?!?!

I started the Talking Life in Vermont Podcast because I wanted to sit down with real people and have real conversations. I genuinely want to know the stories of the amazing people who make up our community.

If you haven’t already, take a moment to hop over to Spotify or Apple Podcasts and give it a listen. You’ll hear stories from a long-distance swimmer, hear from nurses about what’s totally normal — and a few things that aren’t — and hear from a man whose family goes back many generations and who actively works to make our community a better place for everyone who lives here.

This podcast is about connecting people in our community and highlighting just how wonderful the city of Rutland — and Vermont as a whole — really is.

Please take a moment to listen, follow the page, subscribe to the podcast, and join me on this awesome journey.

And remember, if you want to change a community, you have to know who’s in it!

Also, a special thank you to our episode partner Rutland Appliances and to ICO Electric LLC for sponsoring this week’s episode!

Here’s this weeks conversation with Nate Mastroeni from Elevations Real Estate Team and honestly, this episode just felt natural from start to finish.

We talked about Killington ski culture, building confidence in our kids, Nate’s road trip from Pennsylvania to Alaska and back in his 20s, and yes… we somehow ended up talking about aliens too. It’s one of those conversations that just keeps moving and reminds me why I started this podcast in the first place.

Real people. Real stories. Real conversations.

If you want to change your community, you have to know who’s in it.

Huge thank you to this episode’s partner, Rutland Appliances. Go show them some love and support a business that supports local voices.

Four 90s kids.
One room.
Zero chance this conversation stays on track.

This episode of Talking Life in Vermont is absolute chaos in the best way possible. What started as a normal conversation somehow turned into Canadian snacks, paternity tests, friendship flaws, childhood stories, and debating whether Ethan was secretly adopted.

Honestly? It feels less like a podcast episode and more like accidentally sitting at the funniest table in a restaurant.

⚠️ Fair warning: language, debauchery, and aggressively unfiltered 90s kid energy.

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when complete strangers instantly click like lifelong friends… this is the episode.
