What a great camp for the summer.

St. James High School FCCLA is hosting our first Kids Sewing Camp this summer! This camp is perfect for kids ages 7-12 to learn the basics of hand and machine sewing taught by St. James High's fashion teacher and students. Campers will be paired with high school fashion students to make a variety of projects including pajama shorts, scrunchies, tote bags, and more. Parents can sign their children up for Full Day or Half Day options. Camp will begin each day at the front lobby of the high school and campers will spend the day in the Fashion Lab. Half-day campers will depart at 12pm. Full Day campers will bring their own lunch for a picnic each day.

FCCLA stands for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA is a national student-led organization that focuses on the family. Members develop skills for life through Family & Consumer Sciences Education. St. James High School FCCLA is an active chapter that is state and nationally recognized. Each year, our chapter sends students to the National Leadership Conference to compete in a variety of events including Fashion Design, Fashion Construction, Sustainability Challenge, Teach or Train, Career Investigation, Food Innovations, Sports Nutrition and more. All profits from Kids Sewing Camps will benefit the FCCLA members to help offset the expenses of traveling to state and national conferences and events.

When we listen ‘between the lines’ to our children’s behavior *and to our own behavior* it can provide deep insight into the condition of our hearts and the state of our relationship, revealing buried pain, inner struggles, unmet needs, unspoken fears, hidden triggers, and more.
🦋
Our response to our children’s behavior can communicate that they are seen, they are heard, they matter, they are safe, and they are loved beyond measure or condition.
🦋
Or it can communicate our own pain, stress, struggles, needs, fears, and triggers, leaving our children to cope with their inner world alone or, worse, making them feel responsible for helping us to cope with ours.
🦋
So before you respond to the little person in front of you, pay attention to the little person inside of you.
🦋
Take an honest look at your own behavior.
🦋
Listen quietly to your own pain, stress, struggles, needs, fears, and triggers.
🦋
And parent that inner child tenderly, wisely, and peacefully.
🦋
Then do the same for the child in front of you.
