On our walk last night I explained to Balin the significance of this day for our country and I realized quickly that he is part of a generation who will be taught about the events on 9•11 as a part of history. I was reminded that he was not around for the horrors that ensued 18 years ago. I think it is important that we speak with our children about the evils that caused our great nation to realize we are not impervious to pain and tragedy and more importantly, share with them the message of hope and bravery. Tell them about how this day brought our nation to stand as one. I was proud to tell him about all the men and woman who stepped up on this day and those who continue to volunteer in order to protect our country. Glorify good to this next generation and help spread the message of heroism, pride, and love.

So Balin had the choice of dressing like either an artist or musician at school. He grabbed his “play” clothes and started painting random marks on them. Then he put paint on his neck, arms, legs, hands, and even some in his hair. He looked at me and said “now I look like you do mommy.” I have never been so proud to look like a hot mess on a regular basis! Thanks for always being one of my biggest fans baby!
