MONCKS CORNER — A Berkeley County Planning Commission member appeared to briefly unholster a handgun at a public meeting, causing a fellow commissioner to express alarm, as an audience member shouted at the board.
Commissioner James Sineath appeared to discreetly draw the gun from his side and chamber a round, then return it to his side, during the June 23 meeting. Commissioner Amber Campbell-Moore, seated next to him, saw it and reacted with concern.
Reached after the meeting, Sineath admitted to having a firearm on him but denied that he drew it during the meeting. He said he only lifted his shirt to be prepared in case somebody charged the commission.
