Construction Hike for Hope – Let’s Walk for Mental Health!

Having worked in new construction for over 12 years, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of safety on the job site—but mental health should be just as much a priority as physical safety. As the Co-Chair for the Suffolk VA Out of the Darkness Walk, this cause is personal to me both professionally and personally.

That’s why I’m considering going to the Construction Hike for Hope—and I’d love for you to join me! Let’s come together to support mental health awareness in the construction industry.

Over a year ago we crossed paths with the Co-Chairs for the Suffolk VA Out of the Darkness Walk and we have been involved volunteering from that day on. From fundraising to tabling at local events to promote the walk, we have tried to use our voice the best we could for those who are voiceless. For the 2024 Suffolk VA Out of the Darkness Walk Diana was honored to assist as the Walk Coordinator alongside with the assistance of her mentors (The Co-Chairs) and support from family and friends. Having walked last year wearing silver beads in memory of a service member who had passed 11 months prior to that walk, this year Diana continues to wear silver beads in his honor and has added blue and purple beads to her neck.

We will continue to advocate and fundraise for American Foundation for Su***de Prevention - Virginia Chapter as well as other local non-profit causes that tie into mental health. Let's break the Stigma and be the voice for the voiceless. Suffolk VA Out of the Darkness Walk #988

Together to Save Lives as a volunteer with the @afspvirginia and recently a Walk Coordinator for the Suffolk of the Darkness Walk. Under the guidance and mentorship of many selfless individuals I have found a cause that I am passionate about. From fundraising efforts (thank you to all that supported us) to being the Team Captain for Team Heart and Sole I am here to be a voice for the voiceless and hope to raise necessary funds for research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. I do this to memorialize the loss of a local military member as well as supporting prevention. Let’s break the STIGMA of mental health. Be present, be kind and be the voice.
