In most self-portraits it is the face that dominates:
Cezanne is a pair of eyes swimming in brushstrokes,
Van Gogh stares out of a halo of swirling darkness,
Rembrandt looks relieved "ironically" as if he were taking a breather
from painting The Blinding of Sampson.
This is what was seen when Mr. Leary searched his soul and sat for his portrait.

Missing My Dad.

At the age of 53, my dad began a new stage in his life, where he was entering the age of retirement and exiting his long standing career at Hollywood Golf Club. He joined me on an adventuresome day, where I was just beginning my first career as a AAA Video Game developer. We stopped for lunch at Harold's Famous Deli - (Now featuring the world's larges pickle bar)- see for yourself this joint is awesome!! https://haroldsfamousdeli.com/ - and had a conversation of what he planned on doing with his time. I had completed recent courses in psychology and art and thought it might be interesting for him to try painting. When we stopped at my house I brought him a paint set that I had and a few canvases. This is when he began his journey as an artist. It took him a few years to get the hang of it and turn painting into something unique, competitive, and completely over the top- especially in those years.
