The River Kidz had a great time with Indian Riverkeeper and Friends of the Everglades along with many other great groups at today’s Treasure Coast Waterway clean up.

The 2025 Indian River Lagoon Symposium is set for Feb. 20 and 21 🌊

The symposium offers an annual meeting place for researchers, students, decision makers and the community to discuss the latest IRL science and its application to the management of the lagoon -- as serious challenges continue to threaten the delicate balance of this unique ecosystem 🌿

Registration is still available for the Forum on Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Advanced registration is required for in-person attendance. A livestream of the Forum will also be available.

🌊 CALLING ALL RIVER KIDZ & DOGZ 🐕

We’re calling all River Kidz (fur families & friends ) to join us as we honor Finn, the standard poodle that died after coming into contact with blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) ridden water along the St. Lucie in 2018.

As we enter our 39th day of Lake Okeechobee discharges, we want to bring awareness that our pets are not safe, learn the signs to keep our furry friends safe and what you can do to help. Rivers Coalition Friends of the Everglades VoteWater

We’re calling all River Kidz (and friends) to stand up for the manatees, fish, birds, and seagrass! This is about saving a beautiful place that so many animals call home—and we need YOU to help!

📢 WHAT: SAVE OUR SANCTUARY RALLY
📍 WHERE: NE Side of the Jensen Beach Causeway
3472 NE Causeway Blvd., Jensen Beach
📅 WHEN: Sunday, December 15, 2024
🕐 TIME: 1–4 PM

🛑 Here’s what’s at risk:
🌱 A 12.9-acre mangrove forest full of colorful birds and endangered fish.
🐾 A manatee birthing area where peaceful moms and baby manatees live.
🐟 A National Marine Fishery Service Essential Fish Habitat that helps keep our lagoon and oceans healthy.

The FDEP wants to approve permits to:
❌ Dredge 19,000 sq. ft. of this amazing sanctuary.
❌ Allow gasoline boats that will harm manatees and other wildlife.

This place is supposed to be protected “FOREVER,” but now it’s in danger. We won’t let that happen!
