Curious About Shibori? Ready to Go Deeper?

I've added several opportunities to explore the beautiful world of Japanese shibori, whether you're just getting started or ready for an immersive deep dive into traditional stitched resist techniques and indigo dyeing.

🌿 Shibori Fundamentals β€” A One-Day Introduction & Practice

Due to popular demand, I've added three new dates for my One-Day Shibori Fundamentals workshops:

πŸ“… November 16, 2026 – Stuart, FL
πŸ“… December 15, 2026 – Stuart, FL
πŸ“… February 5, 2027 – Stuart, FL

And there is still room in my upcoming Shibori Fundamentals workshop in Murphy, NC:

πŸ“… June 23–24, 2026 – Murphy, NC

Perfect for beginners, these workshops introduce the foundations of Japanese shaped-resist dyeing. You'll learn how folding, stitching, binding, and wrapping cloth can create beautiful patterns when dyed, while gaining an understanding of traditional techniques, pattern development, and the fascinating process behind shibori.

✨ These classes always run and do not require minimum enrollment, so you can register and make your travel plans with confidence.

πŸŒ€ Already Taken Fundamentals?

Join me for a Two-Day Stitch Resist Intensive and experience the next level of shibori.

πŸ“… September 15–16, 2026 – Murphy, NC
πŸ“… April 19–20, 2027 – Stuart, FL

In these immersive workshops, we'll focus on more advanced stitched shibori techniques while creating a beautiful Japanese tenugui. You'll learn how precision, repetition, and thoughtful stitching can transform cloth into intricate and expressive patterns.

✨ Ready for the Ultimate Shibori Experience?

Shibori Mastery: Cloth, Process & Indigo Retreat
πŸ“… January 18–28, 2027
πŸ“ Aya Fiber Studio, Stuart, Florida

This special 10-day retreat is designed for those who want to fully immerse themselves in the art and practice of Japanese shibori. (Only 3 spaces left)

Over five immersive modules, we'll explore five distinct shibori pattern families, building technical skills and confidence while developing a deeper understanding of cloth, pattern, and process. These are techniques taught by only few instructors in the US!

The retreat culminates in dyeing with a traditional sukumo indigo vatβ€”a living fermentation vat created from composted Japanese indigo leaves. Working with a sukumo vat is a rare opportunity to experience indigo as it has been practiced in Japan for generations.
