When Officer Corey Krecic heard a faint voice calling for help over the radio, he didn't hesitate. A woman had been missing for nearly 48 hours near the St. Lucie River, and time was running out.

Despite dangerous conditions and alligators in the water, Officer Krecic enlisted a civilian boat owner's help and waded through murky waters to reach the stranded woman.

Now, this heroic officer has been nominated for the prestigious LEO Award by his police chief, recognizing his extraordinary courage and dedication to protecting our community.
