“Too Hot Toth Handle”

Meet Devon & Riley Toth in this month’s Family Spotlight.

In the summer of 2022, Devon McAlpin had just moved from Sewall’s Point to West Palm Beach and was looking for ways to cement herself in the Old Northwood neighborhood. She quickly discovered the best way to meet people was to go for long walks with her chocolate English Labrador puppy, Scout. It was on one of those bright, humid walks that Devon met Rob Toth, her future father-in-law. 

Rob was a fixture in the neighborhood and often referred to as Old Northwood’s unofficial mayor. One afternoon, he stopped Devon to compliment Scout’s dog collar, and they got talking. Halfway through their conversation, Rob confirmed Devon was single and pulled out his phone. “I have a son for you,” he said.

Despite the miscommunication from entering the incorrect telephone number, Devon and Riley met in person the next day. Devon and Riley hit it off. The two chatted for thirty minutes. By the time they said goodbye, they’d already made plans to see each other that Friday.

Almost a year later, on January 3rd, Devon and Riley were married in Palm Beach, Florida, at the Royal Poinciana Chapel, followed by a cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing at The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum.
