Spring Clean-Up Week begins Monday, April 27! ๐ท๐งนHave extra household trash to get rid of? On your regular garbage collection day, Groot will collect unlimited amounts of trash during this special collection. Please note, the following items will not be accepted:

๐ซ Electronics
๐ซ Household hazardous waste
Residents may also place out up to 2 cubic yards of construction or remodeling debris.

Join our Cultural and Environmental Awareness Commission for our annual SEED event on Saturday, April 25 from 10 AM-2 PM. Drop off your old electronics and televisions for recycling in our special collection bin (located in the parking lot behind Village Hall) and shred those sensitive documents too!
Step inside the Police Department and visit with Woodsy Owl. Get some Woodsy โSkip the Binโ swag and learn about safely disposing of batteries. Drop off old or unused prescription medicines and learn about the benefits of gardening, conservation, and native plantings. This event is always free.

๐ค NEXT MONTH! On Thursday, April 23, from 9AM to 12 PM, Hanover Township Aging Services is excited to partner with Elgin Community College and other local non-profit and government organizations for the annual Thrive Over 55 Fair! ๐
โข Browse booths from local businesses and organizations offering products, services, and information focused on the needs and interests of those 55 and older.
โข Health Screenings including blood pressure monitoring, stroke risk assessments, and blood sugar screenings.
โข Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.
๐ Transportation will provide bus service to the event with pickup from the Senior Center at 9AM and a return bus at 11AM.

Can't wait for this super fun event!!
Kite Fest is just around the corner! It will take place on Saturday, May 10, from 12 to 2 PM at the Carl Hansen Woods Forest Preserve. We'll have free kite kits that can be assembled, but if you have your own kite, bring it! Take a break from a busy Saturday for some fun in nature. Brookfield Zoo will also be stopping by with some of their animal ambassadors. You'll have to be there to see which animals they bring!
