We were honored to attend Stratford's Juneteenth Flag Raising and hear from passionate and inspiring leaders from our community. We are especially grateful to Sterling Champion Attorney Donald Smart, whose remarks reminded us of the significance of this day, the progress that has been made, and the work that still lies ahead.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a day to celebrate freedom, reflect on our nation's history, and recommit ourselves to building communities where everyone belongs and can thrive.

We were grateful to join our neighbors in recognizing this important day and to enjoy a special Juneteenth cookie as part of the celebration. 🍪

👏 A big shoutout to Luka Kocienda and the St. Mark School community!

Luka organized a school-wide food drive to support Sterling's Food-4-Kids program and recently stopped by to deliver and stock the donations collected by his classmates, teachers, and their families.

Food-4-Kids provides nearly 200 Stratford students in grades K–12 with bags of easy-to-make meals and snacks every Friday during the school year, helping ensure they have food over the weekend.

Interested in supporting Food-4-Kids? Donations are accepted whenever Sterling is open, and food drives are always welcome!
